The Ryu Hyun Jin Foundation announced that, on Tuesday, a framed jersey worn by Ryu Hyun Jin during training for the 2019 Major League Baseball (MLB) All-Star Game sold for 21 million won (approximately $15,216) in a charity auction. The auction was part of the Shinhan Premier Ryu Hyun Jin Foundation Charity Golf Tournament, held in collaboration with Shinhan Bank to raise funds for various charitable causes.
The event, which took place on Monday at Bella45CC in Hoengseong, Gangwon Province, featured a range of high-profile memorabilia from both MLB and KBO (Korean Baseball Organization) players. Among the auctioned items were a glove from Kim Kwang Hyun, a putter used by Kim Bio (Korea Professional Golf Tour), an autographed bat from the Hanwha Eagles players, and a uniform worn by Lee Jung Hoo of the San Francisco Giants.
Ryu Hyun Jin’s actual training uniform from the LA Dodgers’ spring camp, which he wore before the 2019 MLB season, was sold for 13 million won (approximately $9,419). Kim Bio’s putter fetched 15 million won (approximately $10,868).
Proceeds from the auction will support youth baseball development and assist children battling rare diseases, ensuring that Ryu Hyun Jin’s legacy continues to impact Korea and abroad positively.
