Italy has won the Davis Cup for the second consecutive year in men’s tennis, further solidifying its place among the sport’s elite.

On Monday morning, Italy triumphed over the Netherlands 2-0 in the final, held in Málaga, Spain. This marks Italy’s third Davis Cup victory, following earlier wins in 1976 and 2023. In addition, Italy also claimed victory in the Billie Jean King Cup, the women’s tennis equivalent, earlier this year.

In the final, Matteo Berrettini (ranked 35th in the world) got Italy off to a strong start, defeating Botic van de Zandschulp (ranked 80th) 2-0 with scores of 6-4, 6-2 in the first singles match. World No. 1 Jannik Sinner dominated Tallon Griekspoor (ranked 40th) in the second singles, winning 2-0 with a 7-6, 6-2 scoreline.

Sinner, who has had an incredible year, capturing two major titles—at the Australian Open and the US Open—and the ATP Finals, now adds the Davis Cup to his impressive list of accomplishments. After the victory, Sinner said, “It’s been an amazing year. I’m very proud of the team. There’s a lot of work behind it. We are very happy to hold this trophy again.”
