BTS member V has made history as the first Korean artist to achieve a remarkable milestone with his winter-themed songs.
The singer recently secured a spot on Billboard’s Holiday Hot 100 chart (dated December 21) with his rendition of “White Christmas,” featuring the legendary Bing Crosby. This is not V’s first time making an impact on this chart. In 2021, he made waves with his solo track “Christmas Tree,” and more recently, he charted with his duet, “Winter Ahead,” alongside Park Hyo Shin. With this latest achievement, V has become the only K-pop artist to place three songs on the Holiday Hot 100. Even more impressive is that all three tracks debuted at number one on the Holiday Digital Song Sales chart, a record unmatched by any other Korean artist.
Billboard has also recognized V’s musical talent, naming his track “Winter Ahead” one of the 27 Best Winter Songs for the Season. The publication praised the song, describing it as “capturing the essence of winter’s first day,” with the harmony between V and Park Hyo Shin likened to freshly fallen snow. The editors also noted that the song’s appeal would extend well beyond the holiday season.
In addition to his success on the Holiday Hot 100, V’s “Christmas Tree” earned a spot on Billboard’s list of the 25 Best Christmas Songs of the 21st Century (So Far). The publication highlighted the poetic lyrics, including lines like, “Your light’s the only thing that keeps the cold out / Moon in the summer night / Whispering of the stars / They’re singing like Christmas trees for us,” calling them the song’s standout lines.
V has firmly cemented his status as the go-to artist for winter songs. Both “Winter Ahead” and “White Christmas” have made it onto the Billboard Hot 100 at numbers 99 and 93, respectively. With these impressive chart placements, V further solidifies his reputation as the “Winter Boy” of the 21st century. V has been delighting fans for years with winter-themed tracks, consistently releasing beloved seasonal songs such as “Snow Flower” featuring Peakboy and “wherever u r.”
