The K-pop girl group NewJeans, currently involved in a contract dispute, is rebranding with a new name and preparing for fresh activities in March.

On Friday, the group revealed its new name, NJZ, alongside photos shared on social media. The group also updated its social media handle from jeanzforfree to njz_official.

NJZ is set to make its debut performance under the new name at Complex Live, a concert held as part of the global street fashion and culture festival ComplexCon. The festival is scheduled from March 21 to 23 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.

Minji expressed her excitement, saying, “I’m thrilled to showcase a new side of ourselves as we take the stage as NJZ for the first time. This performance is a pivotal moment for us, and we’re eager to share the new music we’ve been excited to present to our fans worldwide.”

NJZ has operated independently since November of last year when the group announced the termination of its exclusive contract with ADOR, citing the agency’s failure to fulfill its obligations. However, ADOR asserts that the contract is still valid and has filed a lawsuit to confirm its validity. The agency has also sought a legal injunction to prevent NJZ from entering into independent agreements, including advertising deals.
