Alvin Bragg, the Manhattan District Attorney who prosecuted the hush money case involving former U.S. President Donald Trump, described the jury’s guilty verdict on the 30th (local time) as “literally the cornerstone of the American judicial system.”
Bragg emphasized, “This type of white-collar prosecution is core to what we do at the Manhattan District Attorney’s office since it was established in the 1930s,” adding, “Like every other case and verdict, we only follow the facts and law.”
Bragg, who defeated the Republican candidate and was elected as Manhattan DA in November after the investigation began in March 2021, directed the investigation and decided to prosecute former Trump through a grand jury last March. At that time, he stated, “Everyone is equal before the law, and no amount of money or power can change the principles that America upheld for a long time.”
The jury in the trial of Trump’s hush money scandal delivered a guilty verdict on all 34 charges brought before them at the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York after the trial on the second day.
