On the 29th, the Busan Police Department announced they had arrested and detained an American instructor of a language institute on the suspicion of sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl under the Act on Special Cases Concerning The Punishment Of Sexual Crimes.
According to the police, the instructor is accused of sexually assaulting the student at a language institute in Busan on the 22nd. The instructor was apprehended by the police the next day as her parents reported the assault.
The instructor is also under suspicion of violating the Immigration Control Act as he entered South Korea on a tourist visa and soon started working at the institute. In addition to the assault, the police are investigating the circumstances of the language institute that illegally employed the instructor.
