Park Ji Won, the elected representative of Haenam-gun, Wando-gun, and Jindo-gun for the Democratic Party, has criticized the ruling party, stating, “If they continue to support the President (Yoon Suk Yeol) as they are now, he will inevitably have to make a significant decision.” Particularly, Park pointed out that “Anti-Yoon candidates are leading in popularity within the ruling party, and the public is pressuring the special prosecution of First Lady Kim Keon Hee and Chae Byung Sang. Lee Jae Myung, Cho Kuk, Lee Jun Seok, and Han Dong Hoon on top of that? It’s like being surrounded on all four sides.” He argued that “the impeachment train may set off.”
According to political circles on the 27th, Park argued as the above by posting on his social media the previous day, “I agree that the president can make a significant decision if the ruling party does not support him well. That is correct.”
Park also stated, “They are treating the issues of the population cliff, climate change, and extinction of rural areas as if they are watching a distant mountain fire, while the livelihoods of the common citizens are being severed by high costs of living and interest burdens.” He further pointed out, “If he responds to the opposition leader’s major political proposal with trickery and criticizes significant concessions as strategic, the support rate will plummet further from the current 20% range.”
This can be understood as an agreement with what Daegu Mayor Hong Joon Pyo posted on his social media, “If the ruling party fails to protect the president and becomes disorganized, President Yoon will have no choice but to make a significant decision.”
Hong stated, “When the National Assembly opens in June, the overwhelming majority of opposition members and strong opposition parties will focus their attack targeting the Yoon regime. If the People Power party cannot protect President Yoon as the ruling party and fails to unite, President Yoon will have no other choice.”
