Two male passengers who made a scene by starting a fight on a flight were eventually held down by a female flight attendant.
According to CNN on the 8th, a physical altercation broke out on EVA Air flight BR08 between two passengers during a flight from Taipei to San Francisco.
A passenger attempted to change their seat as the passenger next to them began coughing. However, the attempt was unsuccessful as there were no vacant seats. As tensions arose, the two passengers ensued into a verbal argument which later became physical. Three female flight attendants subdued the men, who spent the remainder of the flight separately before being handed over to police upon landing. EVA Air has confirmed that both passengers were not Taiwanese nationals but did not disclose further information regarding the passengers’ nationalities.
In a statement, EVA Air said, “The company has always adopted a zero-tolerance policy for incidents that cause inconvenience to passengers,” and “The company will provide appropriate compensation to the flight attendants and investigate the incident further in detail.”
Previously in 2019, EVA Air had an incident in which an obese male passenger demanded a female flight attendant to assist him in the restroom and clean up after him while he was undressed. Following that incident, the airline abolished its policy of hiring only female flight attendants and began hiring male flight attendants.
