San Diego Padres’ Kim Ha Seong successfully had a base hit for two days in a row.
On the morning of May 9th (KST), Kim started as the 9th batter in an away game against the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field in Chicago. Kim went 1 for 4 with his 8th stolen base of the season. Following the Cubs game on May 8th, Kim, who hit a base hit in 2 consecutive games, slightly pulled up his season batting average from 0.210 to 0.211 (142 at-bats, 30 hits).
In the top of the 3rd inning, leadoff hitter Kim retreated after hitting a fly ball to the center fielder. In the 5th inning, he was out with a fly to the left fielder in a one-out, one-base situation. Kim made a hit in the 7th inning when San Diego led 3-0. Coming out as the leadoff hitter, Kim connected to the right field with a hit with a 92.6 mph fastball. Immediately, Kim stole the 2nd base while the following batter, Luis Arraez, was out with a swing and missed strikeout. He made his 8th steal of the season. However, he did not score because there was no follow-up hit.
Kim turned into a swing-and-miss strikeout in the 9th inning. San Diego eventually suppressed the Cubs 3-0.
