Timo Werner will continue to play for the Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League (EPL) next season.
On the 29th, Tottenham announced through their website, “Werner will play for our team in the 2024-2025 season,” adding, “It also includes the conditions of a permanent transfer.” According to the BBC, the condition for Werner’s full acquisition is 8.5 million pounds (approximately $10.8 million). Werner was loaned to Tottenham from Leipzig (Germany) for six months last January, and Tottenham has extended the loan period by another year.
This season, Werner mainly played as a winger. With team captain Son Heung Min moving to the front due to Harry Kane’s (Bayern Munich) transfer and the injury of Richarlison, Werner was deployed on the left wing instead of Son. Werner has scored 2 goals and made 3 assists in 13 EPL games this season, and Tottenham, ranking fifth, will participate in the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Europa League next season.
Werner, a former player in the German national team, made his professional debut at Stuttgart (Germany) in 2013 at the age of 17 and attracted the attention of big clubs by excelling at Leipzig from 2016 to 2020. In the 2019-2020 season, he scored 28 goals in the German Bundesliga, ranking second in scoring. Werner joined Chelsea (England) in 2020 and made his debut in the EPL, but he returned to Leipzig in 2022 without leaving a strong impression.
